Interventions were the original tool for schools using 5-Star for their tutorial/study hall time. After receiving feedback, we decided to build the Flex tool to help streamline tutorial/study hall.
Interventions can and should still be used for things like Library Check-in, Saturday School, Meeting with a Counselor, or After School Tutoring.
They operate similarly to one another. Flex has simplified the functions of the Intervention tool specifically for a tutorial period build into the school's schedule.
Management
Flex: Managers create a Track, which includes all of the general rules (i.e. when the tutorial occurs, sign up rules, and teacher capabilities). Managers can create a session for all staff members at one time, or individually, following the track rules. Each staff member can edit their own session (name, capacity, notes, etc).
Interventions: Managers/Users create interventions one at a time. Staff members can view/edit any intervention notes by default. Managers would need to adjust permissions after the fact.
Sign Up Capabilities
Flex:
Students can REPLACE a sign-up, if enabled.
Managers can create self-sign-up times, allowing students to select their session (if allowed). Sign-up times can be tagged to a specific track, grade level, and allow same-day sign-up. Students cannot be signed up for more than one session at a time within the same track.
Interventions:
Students can only CANCEL a sign-up if enabled.
Managers can create self-sign-up times; however, they cannot tag specific categories or enable same-day sign-up by time slot.
Managing No Sign-Ups
Flex: Managers can quickly view and place students without an assignment. They can issue them individually or mass-assign students by class schedule.
Intervention: Managers/Users need to pull a report and manually assign students to an intervention.
Manage Attendance
Flex: Managers can quickly view attendance data within the Flex area.
Interventions: Managers/Users can pull a detailed report to view attendance data.
